Paddle Shapes
First things first, to understand the Kosmos you need to understand that by industry standards paddles are oganized in to three categories:

Elongated: A longer, narrower paddle shape (usually 16.5–17" long x 7.5" wide) designed to increase reach, leverage, and power potential. The added length helps with drives, spin, and covering more court, but typically reduces forgiveness due to a smaller sweet spot.
JOOLA's Elongated Shape(s): Magnus, Agassi, Perseus, Hyperion
Standard: A traditional wide-body paddle shape (typically 16" long x 8" wide) prioritizes a larger sweet spot, forgiveness, and fast hand speed. Players benefit from easier control, consistency, and maneuverability during quick net exchanges, making it ideal for balanced or control-focused play.
JOOLA's Standard Shape: Scorpeus
Hybrid: A middle-ground shape between standard and elongated (about 16.25" long), blending reach with a medium-sized sweet spot. Players gain all-around performance that prioritizes versatility and smooth transitions, making it an “all-court” option.
And now, for the first time ever, JOOLA has a paddle for the third category, Hybrid, the all new signature paddle shape.
JOOLA's Hybrid Shape: Kosmos
We’re kicking off our Shape Matters series with the Kosmos cause it's brand-new to the JOOLA Pro V collection. So, if you're reading this before March 3rd, congrats, you're getting a JOOLA EXCLUSIVE!!!
What is Kosmos
“If the Perseus and the Scorpeus had a baby, and that baby was a 2.0 version, and that baby was on steroids, that would be this little puppy [Kosmos],” as only Tyson McGuffin could put it.
The elongated paddle shape benefits players by offering added reach while the standard shape provides greater forgiveness. The Kosmos is JOOLA's first hybrid shape because it blends the reach from Perseus with the maneuverability of Scorpeus, creating a balanced option for players who want to drive from the baseline, counter at the kitchen, and smoothly transition into controlled net play.

Kosmos was closely designed with the help of JOOLA pro Federico Staksrud. For Fed it was about being effective in two different disciplines, doubles and singles.
For doubles, Stakrud favored the manueverability and forgiveness of the Scorpeus, and when he dominated the court as the world's number 2 singles player, he leaned on the reach of the Perseus paddle to hit plays at the oppostie side of the base line that seems impossible. By combining Perseus and Scorpeus, Fed gets the best of both worlds, and no longer has to swap paddles.
Tyson makes the switch from Magnus to Kosmos 14mm without losing what his game needs, delivering the added pop and quick response he relies on for his aggressive, fast-paced style of play.

What do the pro's think?

“I like the Scorpeus for doubles, and the Perseus for singles,” said Federico Staksrud, “And I need to perform well in both. I think the Kosmos shape basically sums up everything I need when it comes to the power for the drives, but also the versatility and hand-speed for doubles.” |
| “If you’re in a hands battle, whether you’re transitioning from forehand to backhand volley, you’re going to feel like the Kosmos is much quicker, because the overall surface face is wider, and with there being less paddle to work with, you’ll find the transition from backhand to forehand is just much quicker.” - Tyson McGuffin | ![]() |
How can Kosmos help your game?
By combining the reach of the Perseus with the expanded sweet spot of the Scorpeus, player get a hybrid paddle that makes switching from precise dinks to confident shot placement in fast exchanges a breeze.
The Kosmos sits right at the intersection of standard and elongated. As a hybrid shape, it combines the best of both worlds, delivering extended reach and pop without sacrificing stability or precision.
Let's take a closer look at the benefits the Kosmos shape and how it can aide your game. Then you'll able to make an educated decision when selecting your JOOLA Pro V:
